Introduction

  1. The subject = "origins"
  2. The Bible tells us the first + last things
  3. Our life fits in a framework
  1. VITAL ISSUES IN THIS CHAPTER

    1. We must put down all existence to God
    2. The universe had a "beginning" - but what was before it?
    3. Why did God create?
      Illustration: "God needed us". No.
    4. Creation was orderly - explain.
    5. Fiat and fulfilment: "God said" - Texts to support this.
    6. Creation was progressive - explain.
    7. Man is unique - how?

OBSERVE: Science cannot tell us about origins except by deductions - which can only be tentative at best.

    APPLICATION: Did Christ believe this?

  2. THE CREATION IS MOST WISELY MADE

    1. "Create" v. "make" - explain.
    2. Genesis 1:2 - meaning.
    3. The light for "day"/"night".
    4. The "seed" and "kinds".
    5. Why was man made last?
    6. The "image of God" - what is it?
    7. The absence of all evil at first.

OBSERVE: God made the universe to show his glory to us that we might love and worship him.

APPLICATION: O why are men so blind to God? Learn to look for God's glory (Psalm 8).

  3. GOD MADE HEAVEN ALSO

    1. The creation of angels - the orders of the angels.
    2. The Fall of Satan.
    3. Heaven - the home of believers - created at first here.
    4. If Adam had not sinned - how should we get to heaven?
    5. A preparatory state and the final state.

OBSERVE: The sin of man overruled by God for good: Christ.

APPLICATION: "Thy Maker is thy husband".

CONCLUSION
